History

I am a senior research engineer at NASA’s Glenn Research Center.  I received my BSEE and MSEE from Cleveland State University in 1982 and 1986 respectively.   I have been with NASA since 1982.  In that time, I have gained experience in network and system engineering for communication applications, communication networking research, state-of-the-art digital, analog and RF hardware design and testing and firmware design.

Currently, I am technical director of hybrid satellite/terrestrial networking, space-based Internet, and aeronautical Internet research.  I am also leading a research effort to deploy commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technology into NASA missions including the International Space Station and Shuttle.  In addition, I have been performing joint research with Cisco System on advance routing research for space-based and aeronautic-based networks.   Of particular interest is large scale, secure deployment of mobile networks including mobile-ip and mobile router technology.

I have also established and I am principal of Syzygy Engineering, a small consulting company specializing in communications systems and networking as well as advanced technology risk assessment.
