I somehow talked myself into leading this one and also providing food. On second thought it might not have been such a good idea to arm people for this one, but... The idea is simply that everyone has to bring a new thought to the meeting. The topic has to be something related to networking somehow. The idea can be half-baked (or less), stupid, fun, unworkable, ... outrageous. Some things that might get the juices flowing... * a new killer app * a new protocol that solves some new problem or some existing problem in a new and interesting way * a new architecture * a replacement for mobile ip (!) * a new way to do something that makes a currently unworkable idea actually feasible * "wouldn't it be cool if ..." If you are not sure if your idea is "new" or not or have other concerns about your idea feel free to stop by. I promise not to laugh (until the 18th) and keep your idea in confidence until the meeting. A few ground rules: * Everyone should bring an idea. No fair just laughing at others. * Be prepared to give a concise statement of the idea so we can all understand it quickly and can get right to BBQing you (or me!). * Based on the average number of folks that show up and the desire to not be in 214 all afternoon you should plan on talking about your idea for about 5 minutes -- including discussion. So, we'll be moving along pretty quickly. I'll keep the gavel and try to keep as much to the schedule as possible. I assume that after we have been around the room we can go back to a topic if interest exists. * Nothing fancy. A quick drawing on the whiteboard at the most. Maybe we can arrange for prizes for outrageous opinions that end up published. Ideas? allman
